John McNally joined the Merseyside Police in 1984 and transferred into the dog handling section in 1991. His dog, Deeko, who sadly passed away in 2009, won Great Britain Police Dog of the Year in 1999 for saving John's life. In 2001, John sustained a career-ending injury which forced him to retire from the police force in 2002. Upon leaving, he decided to use the expert knowledge he gained during his time with the dog section by purchasing Greenfield Kennels, Cattery & Pet Shop.
When John and Gaynor McNally bought Greenfield Kennels, Cattery & Pet Shop over 12 years ago, it offered 80 kennels and 55 cat chalets. With a growing demand for their lodgings across the Merseyside area, they have since undergone a programme of expansion, modernisation and improvement. This has resulted in an additional 69 kennels, as well as an on-site grooming service.
